The secession led to the Confederate States of the United States. The Confederate States make-up closely resembled the Constitution of the United States and it states that it, protected and recognized slavery. The southerners feared that if they did not succeed that an end to their entire way of life was at hand because they felt that they needed to preserve slavery. deliver the goods seemed to be the only way of saving slavery.
