It may seem difficult for some to see just how teaching can become an ultimate job for myself, let alone anyone for that matter. It is easy to see why certain people have this kind of opinion of this profession. For one, depending on the career path and position, the salary is not very enticing in proportion to the work that is required. It is a thankless job at times and requires a lot of patience. Yet there are certain intangibles that make teaching the ultimate profession for me. The simple fact that as a teacher I will have the opportunity to get in touch with and shape the mind of today’s youth to allow them to see the wonderful opportunities for them in this world is worth more than any remuneration that the job can provide. The satisfaction from being able to help young children fulfill their dreams and realize their full potential is something that cannot be measured by dollars and cents. This is where my educational philosophy comes from. I have always believed that there is no other better way to learn than by teaching. Many people say that you lean best by studying yet I disagree and say that one always learns best when teaching. Education is a two way street. The student learns from the teacher and the teacher learns about the student and more about life. Often times, the problem is that there is a communication barrier that exists between students and teachers. This makes it more difficult to impart anything upon the student because they are not as receptive. Another aspect that makes it more challenging arises from the fact that the learning curve that the teacher adopts may not necessarily be the one best suited for the student. This is often the case when there is no communication between the student and the teacher as caused by this carrier. For this reason, I believe that a lot of the teaching and learning must be accompanied with a certain level of respect in order to allow free intercourse of ideas that develop the learning. This approach, I believe, makes the teaching environment more productive as it cultivates respect for the teacher and the student. There is no greater joy in life than knowing as a teacher that you have done something to change the life of another. The development of the child is paramount in education. This development, however, is not only with regard to certain matters or fields of study but is more holistic in the sense that it challenges the child to not be content with what was learned but instead yearn for more. In child development, the teacher must always strive to make the child want to learn more. It is this type of preparation that aids in the development of the child. The role of teachers then becomes important in the context of child development because teachers need to understand what they are supposed to do. Many people have the mistaken impression that as teachers their role is to simply provide the student with information. The problem with this is that it imparts a static education. In order to become more effective as a teacher, one must realize that the role of the teacher is not to teach everything to the child but to equip the child to be able to learn more on his own. Teachers are guides. Teachers are not encyclopedias that just dispense any information at hand. Teachers should know that their role is to inspire in the child the desire to pursue higher learning. Teaching is a noble profession. In the hands of the teachers are entrusted the future of today’s youth. This important position in society is one that must not be taken lightly and must be revered. Yet in order for this to happen, a teacher must realize the importance of his or her job and the responsibilities that accompany such a privileged and indispensable role in society. To lead the children on that first step to a higher education is one of the greatest accomplishments that a teacher can hope to do.

History Reflection Paper

The materials and objectives of SUPS History has given me the confidence to feel capable of meeting college standards upon my arrival to a university. The first term paper I was assigned stressed me out! I was so overwhelmed by the thought of having to write at a college level and how my professor, Ms. Kelly, was going to grade us by college standards. Although I was a nervous wreck, I scored a solid 80%. As I reviewed my actions taken towards completing the essay, I realized that I had waited till two days before the due date to start it and I didn't feel confident in my thesis or essay layout.I remember making myself a mental note weeks before it was due to conference with my teacher for reassurance of the deletion of which my essays focus was going however, I mutinously procrastinate and pushed It to the back of mind. When I actually did start It, It was too late to make a conference. From that first essay Eve learned a lot. Procrastination not only escalated my stress levels but hindered myself from performing at its most greatest capability, which could have earned me a higher score.As the year progressed, I adjusted my habit to starting the term paper at least eight days prior to its due date, giving myself plenty of time to review, research, and conference with Ms. Kelly. Although I didn't conference with Ms. Kelly for every essay, I at least had the time to have some other educated person proof-read it. My term paper grade remained a 80% until recently when I was marked a 75%. Although my grades weren't as pretty as I would have liked them to be, I can understand how I mess up and learn from my mistakes.As a maturing student, Eve learned to take criticism against my work respectfully and rather than being offended or Jumping to conclusions, I absorb the side comments and apply them as best as I can the next time around. For my most recent assignment, I only scored so low because of a misread of the directions. But see, I even learned from that so I'll b e sure to clearly comprehend directions from now on! Furthermore, I've also mentally grasped the formatting of in-text citations, citation pages, and title pages along with the significance of research.Effective research comes from reliable sources, such as the books and documents found on the Syracuse library website. It has become a habit of mine to verify information and check source accuracy. For instance, when I'm researching science related topics for my HUBS (Human Body Systems) class, Eve refrained from the typical Coach answers, Yahoo or Wallflowers and directed my attention to the official Mayo Clinic and Webmd site as well as documented experiments and publishing. Something new this year that I never thought I'd enjoy all that much were the group discussions.Normally I hate group discussions because the same two or three people will cut everyone else off just to hear their voice more critical thinking, analytical practices. I felt motivated to Join in and address mentiona ble areas and topics of whichever book it happened to be that we talked about. Experiencing group discussions in Ms. Kelly's class has strengthened my inference in getting involved in debates and group talks with people that aren't necessarily my friends. Eve found that the best way to really interpret meaning and messages within a book is by really discussing with others.While it was uncomfortable at first, Eve learned to appreciate them. Getting to experience SUPS History has honestly changed me as a student in many ways. Eve learned so much from managing my time to the importance of criticism and book discussions. Although the year was challenging and involved much work effort, it was all worth it in the end. I feel stronger as a writer and I am grateful for critiques. Every critique Ms. Kelly has made was made with reason and aided me in my development as a writer, which can help me to continue growing as a student overall.

We have always been capable of speech. Of course, this expression has evolved over time and originated as simple indications of emotion.However, has evolved into one of the most important functions of the human body, providing not only communication amongst other people, but an essential factor in creating a character, and one of the only factors separating man rom any other living organism. Though voice is so essential to life, women only obtained complete freedom of speech and expression of opinion in the last century. Kennedy was running for president, ut all women's eyes were on his beautiful wife. Housewives and mothers began to see Jackie as their leader, and loved how easily they could relate to her feelings and thoughts, helping their presidential vote in JFK's favor.
